1963 Jaguar E-Type 3.8-litre Series 1 Roadster
This Jaguar E-Type Series 1 spent the early part of its life in the United States and in February 1987, while it was in Los Alamitos (California), it was sold to a collector who ran a bodywork restoration business based in Bonn and subsequently exported to Germany. The car was in its original condition but in 2015, the latter embarked on a full restoration, carried out in part by the Oldtimer Restauration und Service workshop in Düren. The bodywork and paintwork were restored, as well as mechanical components and the interior, including the seats which were reupholstered in Connolly leather. The number stamped on the engine block matches the one on the chassis plate, suggesting that this is indeed its original 6-cylinder engine.
Following its restoration, this fine E-Type returned to the road in 2017. The mileage was then 30,706 km, in comparison to 32,371 km today – the car has therefore been driven 1,700 km only in almost 10 years.
Following the passing of this German collector, who took great care of it since 1987 and carried out a meticulous restoration work, as evidenced by its extensive photo archive, the E Type was sold by his estate in 2025 to the current owner. Today, the car combines outstanding condition with the charm and sportiness of the very first E-Type models, making it an excellent choice for participating in various historic events or simply for enjoying its performance and exhilarating sound on Europe’s most beautiful roads.
