En 1995, le nouveau règlement FIA impose aux moteurs de Formule 1 une baisse de cylindrée de 3,5 litres à 3 litres, dans l'espoir de limiter les performances et donc les risques pour les pilotes. Le nouveau V10 Renault, le RS7, équipe pour la première fois l’écurie Benetton et il va se marier magistralement avec le châssis de la B195 conçue par Ross Brawn et Rory Byrne. Il n'y a plus qu'à ajouter à l'équation un pilote de talent, Michael Schumacher, et le tour est joué. Ainsi l'écurie dirigée par Flavio Briatore connaît une saison exceptionnelle avec 11 victoires dont neuf pour Schumacher et deux pour son coéquipier Johnny Herbert, ce qui permet de décrocher les deux titres mondiaux, Constructeurs et Pilotes.

La voiture présentée est un "show car" réalisé pour des besoins promotionnels. Portant le nom de Michael Schumacher et son numéro 1 (réservé au Champion du Monde en titre), elle est constituée d'une coque fabriquée spécialement à cet effet et ne comporte aucun élément mécanique autre que ceux qui sont apparents. L'habitacle est pourvu d'un siège baquet et d'un volant. Il s'agit d'une superbe pièce d'exposition, en très bon état et rappelant la meilleure saison de Formule 1 de l'écurie Benetton, en grande partie grâce au moteur Renault.

In 1995, the new FIA regulations imposed a reduction in engine size from 3.5 to 3 litres, in the hope of limiting the cars’ performance and, in so doing, the risks for the drivers. The new Renault V10 engine, the RS7, was supplied for the first time to the Benetton team and proved a brilliant combination with the B195 chassis designed by Ross Brawn and Rory Byrne. Add a gifted driver, Michael Schumacher, into the mix, and there you have it. The team run by Flavio Briatore had an exceptional season, with eleven victories (nine for Schumacher and two for his team-mate, Johnny Herbert), enabling it to claim both the Constructors’ and Drivers’ titles in the World Championship.

The car presented here is a show car, created for promotional purposes. Bearing Schumacher’s name and his racing number 1 (reserved for the reigning World Champion), it consists of a bodyshell built specially to this end and has no mechanical components other than those that can be seen. The cockpit has a bucket seat and steering wheel. It is a superb show car, in very good condition, and a reminder of the Benetton team’s best season in Formula 1, thanks in large part to the Renault engine.
