D'après les archives de l'usine, cette Lancia B24 America est sortie des ateliers le 3 juin 1955, de teinte "Grigio" avec sellerie "Pelle Rossa" (cuir rouge). Elle aurait été vendue au concessionnaire Lancia de Sassari, en Sardaigne, le même mois, et immatriculée SS 8321, puis CA 19924 à la suite d'un changement de résidence de son propriétaire. Elle a ensuite appartenu au Prince Tommaso Corsini, membre renommé de la noblesse florentine et homme politique qui a participé́ à l'Assemblée et contribué à la rédaction après la guerre de la Constitution italienne.

En 1969, cette voiture a été achetée par Florio Sarti, un marchand de voitures et de pièces exerçant son activité à Florence et bien connu des amateurs de voitures de sport. Surnommé "Tarzan" par ses amis, il utilisait l'Aurelia surtout pendant la période estivale pour se rendre avec son épouse en Versilia, sorte de Riviera de Toscane. Florio Sarti ne se caractérisait pas par son meilleur goût et avait fait repeindre l'Aurelia en rouge avec une sellerie en cuir blanc. Quoi qu'il en soit, il a conservé la voiture pendant plus de 30 ans avant qu'elle ne soit vendue à son actuel propriétaire par l'intermédiaire d'un négociant en automobiles de collection.

 

Après son achat, l’actuel propriétaire avec son mécanicien de confiance dans une restauration complète, de façon à rendre à cette belle voiture toute son intégrité historique. Malgré quelques modifications de détails (prises d'air derrière les passages de roue et rétroviseurs extérieurs "obus"), la voiture était saine. La restauration de la carrosserie, de la sellerie et de la capote a été confiée à l'atelier de Fabio Calligaris, spécialiste réputé basé dans la province de Milan et, pendant les travaux, le numéro de carrosserie (0032) a été retrouvé, de même que la couleur d'origine sous la peinture du tableau de bord ; elle correspondait au "Grigio" indiqué dans les données de production, un gris très clair proche du blanc. C'est donc dans cette teinte que la voiture a été repeinte, tout en réservant pour certains détails (jantes et partie supérieure du tableau de bord) un rouge assorti à la couleur de la sellerie en cuir rouge.

La partie mécanique et l'électricité ont été remis en état par Gilberto Clerici et son fils Stefano (Autoriparazioni Clerici Gilberto) qui, dans la province de Côme, font partie des meilleurs spécialistes de la marque Lancia. Les travaux ont totalisé environ 100 000 € et, depuis, la voiture a été régulièrement entretenue par Gilberto et Stefano Clerici.

 

Accompagnée d'anciens documents d'immatriculation, d'un certificat d'identité de l'ASI (Automotoclub Storico Italiano) et d'un certificat d'identification du Lancia Registro Storico, cette voiture est une magnifique représentante de ce modèle rare et exclusif. Issue du coupé Aurelia B20 GT rendu célèbre par ses résultats en compétition, la B24 bénéficiait d'une carrosserie spider remarquablement dessinée par Francesco Martinengo pour le compte de Pinin Farina. Élégante et racée, cette voiture ne souffrait que d'un prix très élevé qui en a freiné la diffusion, qui n'a pas dépassé 240 exemplaires, dont seulement 59 produits en conduite à droite, version donc la plus rare de la lignée des B24. Elle est beaucoup plus exclusive que la version cabriolet qui lui a succédé et dont la ligne a totalement perdu la pureté de l'America.

 

Rendue célèbre par Roger Vadim à l’époque du tournage du film ‘Et Dieu créa la femme’ avec Brigitte Bardot, cette voiture emblématique de l'Italie des années 50 jouit d'un prestige inégalé qui lui ouvrira les portes des plus beaux évènements historiques internationaux tout en assurant à son nouveau propriétaire de très belles heures au volant.

According to factory records, this Lancia B24 America left the factory on 3 June 1955 in “Grigio” colour with “Pelle Rossa”(red leather) upholstery. It was reportedly sold the same month to the Lancia dealership in Sassari (Sardinia) and registered SS 8321, then CA 19924 following a change of residence by its owner. The car subsequently belonged to Prince Tommaso Corsini, a well-known member of the Florentine nobility and politician who was actively involved in the Assembly and took part in the drafting of the Italian Constitution after the war.

In 1969, this car was purchased by Florio Sarti, a car and parts dealer based in Florence and well-known among sports car enthusiasts. Nicknamed “Tarzan” by his friends, he mainly used the Aurelia to travel with his wife to Versilia (a sort of Tuscan Riviera) during the summer months. Florio Sarti was not known for his refined taste and he had the Aurelia repainted in red with white leather upholstery. Nevertheless, he kept the car for over 30 years before it was sold to its current owner through a classic car dealer.

 

After purchasing the car, the current owner and his trusted mechanic undertook a complete restoration in order to return this beautiful car to its original integrity. Despite some minor modifications (air intakes behind the wheel arches and “shell” exterior mirrors), the car was in sound condition. The restoration of the bodywork, upholstery and convertible soft top was entrusted to the workshop of Fabio Calligaris, a renowned specialist based in the province of Milan. During this project, the bodywork number (0032) was uncovered, as well as the original colour beneath the dashboard paint. Specified in the manufacturing data sheet, the latter was in fact in very light grey colour (close to white), known as “Grigio”. The car was therefore repainted in this colour while some details (wheels and the upper part of the dashboard) were repainted in red which matched the colour of the red leather upholstery. Mechanical and electrical components were redone by Gilberto Clerici and his son Stefano (Autoriparazioni Clerici Gilberto), who are among the finest Lancia specialists in the Como region. The restoration work amounted to around €100,000 and the car has been regularly serviced by Gilberto and Stefano Clerici ever since.

 

Accompanied by old registration documents, an identity certificate from ASI (Automotoclub Storico Italiano) and the Lancia Registro Storico authentication certificate, this car is a magnificent example of this rare and exclusive model. Derived from the Aurelia B20 GT coupe made famous due to its racing achievements, the B24 featured a spider bodywork superbly designed by Francesco Martinengo for Pinin Farina. Elegant and classy, this car’s only drawback was its very high price, which limited its production to just 240 examples, of which only 59 were made in right-hand drive, making it the rarest version of the B24 saga. It is far more exclusive than the convertible version that succeeded it, with the latter losing the purity of the America model due to its design.

 

Made famous by Roger Vadim during the movie production of “And God Created Woman” starring Brigitte Bardot, this iconic car of 1950s Italy enjoys unmatched prestige.
