L’élégant coupé que nous présentons a été acheté il y a 25 ans par son actuel propriétaire, grand amateur du modèle ayant également possédé une version roadster. Ainsi que le confirme son attestation Jaguar Heritage, il est sorti des usines de Coventry le 16 décembre 1963, puis fut expédié à « Jaguar Cars » à New York avant d’être réceptionné le 24 janvier 1964. Ce précieux document nous apprend également que la voiture était à l’origine « crème » avec intérieur noir. Lors de son achat par notre collectionneur, elle arborait déjà son élégante teinte british racing green, peinture qui fut refaite peu de temps après. Elle a depuis bénéficié de nombreux travaux, incluant la restauration de la boîte Moss chez Classic Garage, ou encore la remise à neuf du faisceau électrique. En 2018, la sellerie en cuir rouge a été refaite avec soin, puis en 2024, le moteur, dont le bloc est matching numbers, a bénéficié d’une réfection complète dont témoigne une facture de près de 34 000€ chez Classic Garage. A cette occasion, un autoradio bluetooth dont nous avons pu apprécier l’agrément et 4 pneumatiques neufs ont été montés. Régulièrement suivie et affichant une patine discrète, cette type E démarre à la première sollicitation et s’avère bien réglée. Elle est, en outre, accompagnée d’un rapport d’expertise de 2024. Combinant une association de couleurs parmi les plus élégantes, et un entretien régulier, ponctué d’importants travaux, ce beau coupé de la désirable première série 3.8L est prêt à prendre la route pour le plus grand bonheur de son futur conducteur.

This elegant coupé was bought 25 years ago by its current owner, a huge fan of the model and the roadster version which he also owned. As its Jaguar Heritage certificate confirms, it left the Coventry factory on 16th December 1963 and was shipped to Jaguar Cars in New York to be delivered to its owner on 24th January 1964. This precious document also reveals that the car was originally “cream” in colour with a black interior. When it was bought by our collector, it was already sporting its elegant British racing green paintwork, which was redone shortly afterwards. It has since undergone quite a bit of work, including restoration of the Moss gearbox by Classic Garage, and complete rewiring. In 2018, the red leather was beautifully reupholstered, and in 2024, the original engine, (number matching block), was completely overhauled as evidenced by a bill of almost €34,000 from Classic Garage. A Bluetooth radio was fitted at the time, which we tested, along with 4 new tyres. Regularly serviced and with its own discreet patina, this E-type starts every time and runs like clockwork. It also comes with a 2024 expert survey. Boasting the most elegant colours and having undergone regular maintenance, and some extensive work, this handsome coupe from the desirable 3.8L first Series, is ready to take to the road and thrill its future driver.
