La gamme Land Rover se composait entre 1958 et 1971 de deux séries (II et IIA) proposées sur la base de deux châssis : le court de 88 pouces et le long de 109 pouces. La mécanique 4 cylindres pouvait être essence ou diesel et 6 cylindres en option pour le châssis long. L’ensemble pouvait être habillé d’un large choix de carrosseries.

L’exemplaire présenté, une version bâchée, repose sur le châssis long et est équipé de la mécanique 4 cylindres diesel. Destiné à l’origine au marché Suisse, il fut ensuite importé en Italie en 1988. Son précèdent propriétaire l’a acquis alors qu’il était en état d’origine correct puis a décidé de lui faire bénéficier d’une restauration complète, sans considération de coût, qui s’est achevée en 2019. Un important dossier de photos témoigne de l’étendue des travaux réalisés, notamment en tôlerie, et un ensemble de factures atteste d’une partie des pièces remplacées. Lors de la restauration une double banquette arrière a été ajouté de chaque côté de la benne arrière. Il est rare d’examiner un exemplaire aussi soigneusement restauré, et l’allure baroudeuse de ce tout terrain est adoucie par sa belle livrée bleu roi. La voiture est vendue avec son ancien titre de circulation annulé pour export vers la France qui précise qu’il s’agit d’une trois places. Grâce à sa configuration de carrosserie attractive, ce Land Rover ne manque pas d’atouts et se révèlera être l’engin décapotable idéal pour l’été.

The Land Rover range between 1958 and 1971 consisted of two series (II and IIA), offered on the base of two chassis lengths: the shorter with 88-inches and the longer featured 109-inches. The choice of four-cylinder mechanicals included both petrol and diesel, and optional six-cylinder version for the longer chassis. The vehicle could be fitted with a wide choice of bodywork too.

The car on offer is the covered version, based on the longer chassis and fitted with a four-cylinder diesel engine. Originally intended for the Swiss market, it was then imported into Italy, in 1988. Its previous owner acquired it while it was in a correct, original condition and then decided to give the car a comprehensive restoration, without any cost considerations, which was completed in 2019. A large folder of photos testifies to the extent of the work carried out, in particular concerning sheet metal, and a set of invoices certifies most of the parts replaced. During the restoration a double rear bench seats has been added in the rear part.

 It is rare to see such a carefully restored specimen, and the adventurous look of this all-terrain vehicle is softened by its beautiful royal blue livery. The car is sold with the previous Italian title cancelled for exportation in France, homologating the car with 3 seats. Thanks to its attractive body configuration, this Land Rover has no shortage of advantages and will prove to be the ideal convertible for the summer.
