Artcurial Maroc opened in Marrakech in 2019, becoming the first international auction house based in Africa. As a leading actor in the global Modern and Contemporary Art market, Artcurial plays a key role in enhancing Marrakech's visibility on the international art scene, while strengthening its exclusive connections with North Africa and the Middle East.
Artcurial is renowned for its expertise in Modern and Contemporary Art from North Africa and the Middle East. Our prestigious auctions, such as Moroccan & African Spirit and A Moroccan Winter, held at the iconic La Mamounia Marrakech, demonstrate our commitment to promoting artists from the Maghreb and the Middle East on the global art stage.
Our expertise in curating high-profile auctions, combined with our exclusive partnership with La Mamounia, has enabled us to attract a unique international clientele of collectors, museums, foundations, institutions, and art advisors. Our auctions are attended by bidders from over 40 nationalities.
The excellent results of our auctions have significantly boosted the global visibility and recognition of artists such as Jilali Gharbaoui, Ahmed Cherkaoui, Mohamed Melehi, Hassan El Glaoui, and Abdelkébir Rabi'. Mohamed Melehi, a central figure of Moroccan Modern Art, illustrates this success, with 41 artworks sold out of 42 presented over the last five years, achieving results 30% above estimates.
Artcurial has also organized the sales of numerous prestigious collections, including Une Passion Marocaine, Collection Pierre Bergé and Yves Saint Laurent in 2015, Paris#Marrakech in 2016, the monumental artworks by Melehi from the Hôtel Les Roses du Dadès in 2021, and part of Melehi’s estate collection in 2024.
Finally, our auction house has achieved significant results for renowned artists such as Mahmoud Mokhtar, Mona Saudi, Shafic Abboud, Etel Adnan, Baya, and Mahjoub Ben Bella.
