Urban Art

At the heart of contemporary creation, Urban Art has, over the past few years, revealed itself to be one of the most exciting emerging sectors on the art market.

Under the impetus of auctioneer and contemporary art specialist, Arnaud Oliveux, Artcurial has become one of the pioneers of this specialty, launching its first and highly successful sale as early as 2006: the sales have generated a momentous, ever-growing public appreciation.

The annual Urban Art auctions are essential events for collectors and enthusiasts from around the world.

Historical American art from the 1990’s, pieces by Banksy, Kaws, Shepard Fairey or Invader all offer a complete outlook on urban creation and the most emblematic artists of the past decades.

The auctioned pieces reach stellar hights, such as Dark continent of king by Dondi White, sold for a record price of € 97,500, Rodeo girl by Bansky for €379,500, the spectacular Companion by Kaws for €380,000 or an alias by Invader sold for €251,000.

The international reputation of the Department is forged thanks to these exceptional results and to its closeness with the artists. Meet and greets, performances and book signings all complement and spice up exhibitions held at the magnificent Hotel particular on the Rond-Point des Champs-Elysées.

2016 marked the 10th anniversary of the specialty within Artcurial and a first sale in Hong Kong, honouring a field that Artcurial actively contributes to highlight on the international scene.
