Trilingual in French, Dutch and English, Vinciane holds a degree in Art History in contemporary art from the Université Libre de Bruxelles, and a diploma from CREPAC, majoring in Antique Dealing/Fine Art Broker Business Management. She also followed an additional course organised by IESA Belgium. Vinciane then joined Sotheby's, first in London, then in Brussels as an expert-liaison and later as Director of the Decorative Arts Departments. Since 2012, Vinciane de Traux is Director of the Belgium Artcurial office and manages the Benelux Artcurial activities, putting her skills, enthusiasm and network at the service of the auction house’s development.
As every year, the Old Master & 19th Century Art department will hold its prestige sale on 22nd November, in conjunction with Fine Arts Paris & La Biennale. The sale will feature a masterpiece by Jean-Honoré Fragonard: The Sacrifice to the Minotaur. Estimated €4,000,000 - 6,000,000, this oil on canvas has been kept in the same family for over a century. An exceptional, unpublished still life by Louyse Moillon and a Saint John the Evangelist by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo will also be offered for sale.
The Monaco Auction Week sales, which was held from 16th to 19th July 2023 at the Hotel Hermitage in Monte-Carlo, were a resounding success with Artcurial’s Jewellery, Watches, Fashion & Luxury Accessories, Post-War & Contemporary Art and, for the first time, Design departments all shined on the French Riviera, totaling over €14 M.
On 10th February, Artcurial auctioned Hergé’s original drawing for the 1942 cover of the album Tintin in America. This cover was used in 1946 for the first colour edition of the album. After a bidding battle, it was sold for €2,1M, a new world record for an original black and white drawing by Hergé.
The year 2022 marks the 20th anniversary of the creation of the auction House, with numerous records and lots sold above €1M, as well as the sale of prestigious private collections. Artcurial is proud to celebrate this anniversary with a record result of €216,5M.
On November 9, 2022, Artcurial had the honor of dispersing in Paris a major group of paintings by Flemish and Dutch masters of the 16th and 17th centuries from the prestigious collection Baron & Baroness Vaxelaire, a family tribute. With a world record for the series of 10 tondi by Abel Grimmer (1575-1619) which reached the sum of €1,538,000 (fees included).
