Born in 1987 in Figueres in the same city as Salvador Dali, Gerard Vidal studied art history at the Universitat de Barcelona and discovered the world of auctions at the Bonanova Subastas auction house in Barcelona. In 2014, he completed a Master of Medieval Worlds at the Sorbonne and became fascinated by the world of French auctions. He discovered the Artcurial auction house during a sale on the universe of the creator of Tintin organised by the Comics department. In 2017, he opened his own auction house Subhastes Publiques de Barcelona in his native country. In 2018, upon his return to Paris, Gerard Vidal began a collaboration with Artcurial, and more specifically with the Old Masters & 19th Century department.
Today, the collaboration continues with his appointment as the auction house's official representative in Spain.
