On 8th October, the watchmaker Breitling organised an important charity dinner at the Samaritaine to benefit the organisation Premiers de Cordée. Under the hammer of auctioneer Stéphane Aubert, associate director of Artcurial, more than ten exceptional lots were offered for sale. All the profits were donated to the organisation, which has been supporting children in hospital or with reduced mobility through sport since 1999. Each year, it introduces nearly 8,000 children to different disciplines, thanks to 150 volunteers and sports educators.
A total of €240,000 was raised during this exceptional evening. Among the lots offered for sale, the bidders were able to discover Jean-Jacques Goldman’s guitar, made famous in the video clip of the song “Pas toi”, which was sold for €50,000. One lot in particular broke auction records, a 1960s Breitling Navitimer REF.806 in organisation with LIP, sold at €28,000. A twelfth surprise lot was auctioned at the end of the sale by actor and film director Guillaume Canet: the signed script of his next movie and a day on the set. This unique experience was finally sold for €18,000.
To further support Premiers de Cordée, Breitling unveiled a Superocean watch in the organisation's colours, a limited series of 250 pieces, available only on the French market. This 42 mm steel model, water-resistant to 500 metres, has a black dial, luminescent indexes and numerals in the same turquoise blue as the Premiers de Cordée logo, whose mascot is engraved on the case back. A large part of the profits from its sales will be donated to the organisation.
