Businessman and politician André Trigano is above all, a passionate car enthusiast. In 2016, he chose Artcurial to hold an exceptional sale of his Citroëns, which proved to be a resounding success. This year, he is once again placing his trust in the Maison to bring 170 cars from his collection to auction. They will be presented for sale on the 13th September 2020 in Gibel, near Toulouse.

André Trigano, a life driven by passion.
André Trigano purchased his first car, a Citroën C4, shortly after the Liberation. As his business took off, he was able to devote more and more time to his passion through racing. In the 1950s, he competed in high-profile rallies including the Monte-Carlo Rally and the Tour de France Auto. His love of cars grew with each passing day and it wasn’t long before he caught the collecting bug.

From sports cars to “barn finds”.
Such is the incredible diversity of his collection that enthusiasts and collectors will be treated to a wide variety of cars. From popular, mass produced models to some of the rarest cars, and from sports cars to “barn finds”, the collection has something for everyone. Trigano acquired many of the cars new, such as top-of-the-range saloons and various American models.

Rare models
The star of the sale is a 1967 Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2. Bought new by André Trigano and kept in perfect condition, it is one of only 247 models produced, including all versions. The first milestone in the history of the Sant’Agatha marque, it has been treasured by its owner, who drove it regularly before it became part of his museum. This little gem, estimated at between €400,000 and €600,000, is undoubtedly one of the most desirable 400 GTs on the market.

A superb 1962 Rolls-Royce Phantom V Limousine James Young, estimated at between €100,000 and €150,000, will also grace this sale. With its exceptionally luxurious finish, at the time the Phantom V was Rolls Royce’s most prestigious and exclusive model. Every car is built to client specification, making each one unique.

When cars meet art
In 1967, as part of a fundraiser for the French Foundation for Medical Research, the artist Arman decided to cover a Renault 4 with drawings of the model. A perfect meeting of art and motor cars, this model is regarded as a forerunner of the “Art Cars” that were later made famous by Hervé Poulain. Designed for art lovers and car enthusiasts, this model will delight collectors at the sale.

As the collection is very varied, it will appeal to enthusiasts of all ages and from all walks of life. Everyone should be able to find something corresponding to their means. There are restoration projects as well as sports cars in perfect condition.”

This devoted lover of beautiful cars has put his heart and soul into this collection and his passion is bound to rub off on those lucky enough to acquire these vehicles.
