Hermès Vintage
  & Fashion Arts

Under the direction of Artcurial’s Executive Chairman - François Tajan, the Hermès Vintage and Fashion Arts Department, managed by Pénélope Blanckaert, has been regularly organising sales in Paris and Monaco since 2005.

The decision to commit to long-term development of Hermès Vintage sales in Monaco - recognised as a key centre on the international art market - fits perfectly with Artcurial’s strategy of making the Principality the point of reference for all the auction house’s luxury goods sales. This commitment has enabled Artcurial to earn the trust of worldwide collectors; today international clientele is increasingly important to sale results, year after year.

Artcurial was a pioneer in the sale of vintage Hermès and is now more than ever the international reference for collectors seeking iconic pieces, obviously the Kelly and Birkin bags - in unique colours or exotic skins, or simply very rare models, but also the Constance, which is seeing a huge increase in interest and now forms the third cornerstone of this very dynamic market. The quality of the bags and accessories selected together with irreproachable provenance are the keys to the success of the sales. Artcurial auctions are now the scenes of spectacular bidding; a Kelly Picnic in wicker and Barénia leather fetched €45,000 in July 2017, i.e. 4 times its estimate.

The department also organises sales in Paris, dedicated to the world of fashion houses and creators and which are planned to coincide with Paris Fashion Week. Paris, undisputed capital of fashion, offers connoisseurs and collectors the perfect setting for discovering and rediscovering historic and heritage collections. Thus, the latest Fashion Arts sale, dedicated to the house of Christian Dior - this year celebrating 70 years of creation - was the occasion to prepare a fully documented catalogue and to benefit from maximum exposure. Likewise, the annual Japanese fashion sale, the 7th edition of which will take place next November, has become an unmissable event for the world’s creators and specialist collectors.

Leather goods, luggage, ready-to-wear and haute-couture, accessories and fantasy items, furs, art of living, and more besides - the Hermès Vintage & Fashion Arts sales are the occasion to plunge into a world of fashion and luxury, legendary know-how and creative talent; symbols of refinement and elegance - to rediscover and to take home.
