Trilingual in French, Dutch and English, Vinciane holds a degree in Art History in contemporary art from the Université Libre de Bruxelles, and a diploma from CREPAC, majoring in Antique Dealing/Fine Art Broker Business Management. She also followed an additional course organised by IESA Belgium. Vinciane then joined Sotheby's, first in London, then in Brussels as an expert-liaison and later as Director of the Decorative Arts Departments. Since 2012, Vinciane de Traux is Director of the Belgium Artcurial office and manages the Benelux Artcurial activities, putting her skills, enthusiasm and network at the service of the auction house’s development.
The Impressionist & Modern sale was dominated by the exceptional painting Te Bourao (II) by Paul Gauguin, the last artwork still in private hands of a major nine paintings cycle painted in Tahiti and sent to Paris in 1898 as part of an exhibition dedicated to the artist at the Ambroise Vollard gallery. The oil on canvas reaches €9,553,200, almost twice its estimate.
On 13th November, Artcurial organized its auction dedicated to Old Master & 19th century art. With a total of €9.2M, the auction is dominated by the great world record for Artemisia Gentileschi at €4.8M with a Lucretia painted in the 1630’s.
