Fine wines and spirits
Art and gastronomy: The inseparable pleasures of the collector
The outstanding result of €3,602,566, of the 2012 Fine Wines and Spirits department confirms once again its place among the French leaders, and since many years already.
The seriousness of the wine selections and estimations was greeted by a superbly loyal clientele of buyers, both amateurs and professionals.
8 auctions punctuated the year 2012, with an exceptional sale of 19th century champagnes found on a wreck at the bottom of the Baltic Sea last June. Aland's Champagne Rendez-vous.
The prestigious wine economy is globally active; we have the good fortune to be among the serious players in the international auction market of fine wines, champagne, and spirits, which allows us to best serve the sellers which come to us in order to disperse their cellars.
The honoured wines at the 2012 sales were the most prestigious products in France and in the world.
The Premier Crus from Bordeaux such as the Châteaux Margaux, Latour, Lafite Rotshchild, Mouton Rothschild, Haut Brion, Pétrus, d’Yquem, as well as the wines of Burgundy from Domaine de la Romanée Conti, Coche Dury, Henri Jayer, Hubert de Montille, Marquis d’Angerville, Confuron Cotetidot, Dugat Py, Domaine Roumier, Trapet Père & Fils, Méo Camuzet, Domaine Leflaive, Domaine Denis Mortet, Bonneau du Martray, and Clos de Tart, among many other fine picks of the production.
Also selling very well were the wines of the Rhône valley with the Hermitages de chez Chave, and les Château Rayas en Châteauneuf du Pape.
The aged wines from Champagne make serious waves at auction when they have been perfectly conserved, for proof see the prices obtained by the lovely cuvees of Champagnes Bollinger RD, Krug, Cristal Roederer, and Dom Perignon this year.
High quality spirits were not forgotten either, such as the Rhum Madinina 1895 sold for €3,008 or that of the Plantation Saint James 1885 sold for €4,091.
We are careful to present a selection of wines which have been perfectly conserved until now, wines of sensational quality. The wines proposed were almost always purchased en primeur or directly from the producer by the seller.
The first sale of the 2013 year will take place the 5th and 6th of February with a superb collection of more than 3 500 bottles of wines from the years 1970 to 1990 of a passionate amateur. The largest wineries will be offered during this session.
The catalogue will also include a vertical selection of wines from Château d’Yquem among which we will disperse the prestigious vintages of 1893, 1947, 1950, 1959, 1961, 1965, 1967, 1968, 1970…and some bottles of Bordeaux blanc sec “Y”, in 2011 magnum.
The “Y” bottles will come directly from the cellar of the Château, they will be sold by the Château in order to better introduce amateurs to the vintage.
