Orientalist Paintings
An Invitation to Travel!
The Orientalist Department headed by Olivier Berman confirmed its dynamic development in 2010 to become European continental leader in the field, only two years after its launch.
There were excellent results and vigorous demand for works by Jacques Majorelle, Jean-Gaston Mantel, Edy Legrand, Georges Washington, Alexander Iacovleff, Felix Ziem and Fabius Brest.
Under the gavel of François Tajan, the sale of Orientalist Pictures held on 9 June 2011 brought a total €3,516,680, with no fewer than four world records: two for Jacques Majorelle, and one each for Edouard Edy Legrand and Alexandre Roubtzoff.
The fast-growing Orientalist Department is now set to pursue its expansion with one of the most important specialist auctions to be staged by any firm in recent years.
To reply to increasing demand, we are already preparing our next sale, to take place in December 2011, and which will include a major section devoted to Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia.
Whether you are an experienced collector or new enthusiast, our department is at your service to assist you with any questions you may have concerning the purchase, sale or valuing of works in your collection - free of charge and in strictest confidence.
