Collectors’ auctions remain the established speciality of the Modern Art Department, led by Francis Briest, notably including sales of the collections of Ambroise Vollard, Henriette and André Gomez, Matarasso, the Carré succession, Geneviève Laporte’s Picassos, Perrot Moore’s Dalis, the Tériade collection, the Gérard Oury collection and, still more recently, Paul Petridés’s Utrillos and the Constantin Brancusi memorabilia.

Valuations, estimates, appraisals, authentication, history, critical texts and specific cataloguing, as well as travelling exhibitions through our International Auctioneers network in Europe and the United States – in each of these areas, our team’s expertise means we can offer tailored solutions to make the most of the works entrusted to us.

Specialist auctions

The Modern Art Department encompasses nearly 70 years of creativity in the field of 20^th century painting, sculpture and graphic arts, covering numerous areas of interest for collectors. The art movements of the early 20th century inspire art lovers’ curiosity, respect and finally their growing passion, which is nurtured by the department’s specialists, led by Bruno Jaubert, through specialist auctions. Alongside sales devoted to the Ecole de Paris 1905-1939 and Provencal Painting, the department also holds sales dedicated to key themes: Surrealism, Historic avant-garde, 20^th-century Classicism, Works on paper, Picasso etc.

The sales strategy adopted by Artcurial | Briest - Poulain - F. Tajan supports this passion – both among demanding collectors and in the context of large collections and successions.
